Rebecca Mete

Dietitian (APD)

Hi there. My name is Rebecca and i’m a Dietitian and fur-mum to two beautiful Maremma’s, Basil and Morris. Oh and did i mention a feather-mum to six cheeky chickens and three naughty ducks?

I graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Human Nutrition, and a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. I then went into private practice for four years, before i decided to begin my PhD in nutrition.

Why did i start a PhD? Well, that’s a great question!

In my time working as a private practice dietitian, my passion to understand food choices and why we eat what we eat, grew! I learnt that in everyday life, food choice are highly complex. Just take a moment to think about your last meal or thing you ate. Why did you eat that? Why not something else? Did you truly event enjoy it, or did you just eat it because it seemed ‘healthy’?

I wanted to explore this further, especially from the perspective of online influences on food choices. So my PhD research centres around nutrition education.
